At Do Good Minnesota, we believe every act of kindness matters. Whether you’re requesting help for a local family, suggesting a community project, or asking for donations to meet a need – we want to hear from you.
Our assistance and projects must fit within charitable purposes recognized by the IRS, such as:
- Relief of the poor, distressed, or underprivileged
- Advancement of education or science
- Lessening neighborhood tensions
- Eliminating prejudice and discrimination
- Lessening the burdens of the government
- Promoting social welfare or community improvement
Approved examples include: Providing food or supplies to families in need, helping schools or youth programs with resources, community improvement projects (parks, playgrounds, equipments), organizing volunteer-driven local aid.
Not allowed examples include: Providing benefits to a specific person or family without a charitable process (must serve a public not a private interest), using funds for personal expenses, bills or cash handouts directly to individuals unless done through an approved charitable assistance program with a clear need-based criteria, supporting or opposing political candidates, endorsing anyone running for office, religious purposes.
